Prison Ministry Advance Project
After years of dealing with inmates and offenders across the country and abroad, I have decided to change focus regarding the Prison Ministry. As with the Street Kids project, I have another way of looking at the whole aspect of assisting these individuals. It is all good enough to help them with their spiritual needs and emotional needs, but once they are released they face another challenge.
After spending years away from society for a crime they have committed they return to society for more punishment. They have been put away to be punished, but our judicial system lacks what is necessary to make the changes in the individual themselves and to assist them to be reintegrated back into society to be positive citizens that will contribute to our society in a positive way. These offenders are shunned and have become totally unemployable, which becomes a problem for them, their families and society on a whole. Added to that, most of these offenders don't even have a home to return to, or a family.
So, we have decided to offer projects that will uplift the individual, offer them skills development training, mentor them, counsel them and put them in a program that will assist them with their journey back into society. This project will assist those that are recently released, those on day parole, those with lesser sentences and juvenile. However, the offender will need to want to be in the program.
Once the program is completed, we will remain in contact with the offender and their family to assist where necessary and to view their progress. We will mediate where necessary, on behalf of the offender, between offender and family/society, to ease the progress of reintegration.
We will also be working closely with the Correctional Department.
