Over the years we have developed a feeding scheme that goes out late at night and looks for the homeless, in order to feed them, give them a meal and where possible, a blanket-depending on donations. As e me went by, I felt burdened about the fact that all we are doing is 'just feeding' the homeless. I also became very aware of the growing number of children on the streets. Added to that, how desensitized we as a community have become with regards to all the homeless, specially homeless kids. I have seen over again, people swearing at them and literally ignore that there is a child standing, and begging at their car window. Now, I do not condone the drugs, glue, alcohol and anything else that they use, but...that is the only way that they know and its a mechanism of dealing with the situation. Many people don't see it that way, but seen them freezing on a cold pavement in the midst of winter with no shoes (because it was probably stolen), no blanket and no jersey on is enough to stir the emotions of a mother, let alone someone that wants to see a better society. Many nights, after feeding the homeless, we would get home after 1am, and I would have to stand in a hot shower to literally 'defrost'. While standing in that shower, I would cry for the little ones that I have left on the street.
So, with that in mind, I decided to do something different, instead of feeding them there and leaving them to fend for themselves and to find the next meal after hundreds of people have shunned, sworn, chased and literally destroyed the little pride they had left.
Street Kids Educational Program
I have started a program that will enable 'our' children off the streets. I have been speaking with the relevant authorities, including Child Welfare about getting these children educated.
With this in mind, I am reaching out to businesses and individuals that can assist with at least one child at a time. If we can get one child off the street, that would be a battle almost won already.
These children are selected after much interaction with them. By now, these kids already know me, and I have learned who are sincere and who are not. I have been monitoring these kids for a long time and know which kids are worth investing in. I have a selected few that have potential and are willing to grab any opportunity with both hands, and all I was in return is to see their lives change for the better.
The child would need school uniforms, shoes, stationary and travel funds. 'Adopting' the education of one of these kids will allow for that child to have an opportunity at a future. And that child's future is also our countries future. Who knows, you could be sponsoring our next mayor/premier/president.

Street Kids Mentorship Program
Along with the Street Kids Educational Program, I have initiated a Mentorship Program. I believe this is important as well as these kids will need to be motivated and encouraged. Coming from a life that they have been living, it will be difficult for them to 'fit in' or try and adapt to society standards. With a Mentor (Big Brother/Sister initiative) their will be someone that's will hold their hand in the tough moments, someone that can teach them life skills that a school cant teach them: fishing, fixing a car, having a mere conversation, building confidence, etc.
We welcome member of society who would like to make an investment in the lives of the children that have willingly walked away from the streets and accepted our help.
